Another Year Gone By

Josh continues to be in a good place.  He gets wobbly every now and then, but for the most part I find his coping skills much better than they used to be.

He went off of his medicine again about six months ago, and while I saw him get wobbly in the spring, he never went too far one way or another.

I relieve my stress about a back slide by reminding myself that he has, in the past, gotten himself back to the doctor and back on meds when things start to get bad, and so I remind myself that he seems to be self aware and that he'll take care of it.

He purchased a house this March!  A really adorable 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home that's about 6 years old.  A great starter home.  He and his girlfriend now have two dogs and two cats.  He doesn't feel like he'll ever want children, and with all those animals I don't think he needs a child right now.

I pray all the time that we continue to be blessed with his improved mental health and I pray that for you and your loved one too.

I just want you to know that I am so grateful for having found your blog posts. I have a 26-year-old son who is also bipolar, who is now doing much better with his coping skills and life decisions, as is yours. This Thanksgiving I gave thanks for the blessings of strength and tough love, after the many desperate moments we went through. After having been the daughter of a bipolar mom, being the mom of a bipolar son just threw me out of whack -- not the same episodes, not the same people, not the same desperation. But we are blessed, and I am thankful. I have held you and your son and those other loved ones around you both in my prayers, too, and will continue to do so.

I have a 29 year old with bipolar he was diagnosed when he was 10 .I knew there was something wrong he was always a handful .I was told he just being boy he just acting out but no one knew what I was seeing. So when he was in daycare he hurt kids bite the teacher hot thrown out school same thing was always a bully never had friends unless he could control them was mean to them .then they just stop hanging out with him.so he got diagnosed and then came the meds some times worked some times he was worst he was counseling in an out of hospitals then came the stealing ,selling drugs gangs .it was hard very hard nothing I did worked. Please get help as soon as u feel something is wrong with your child an I'm not talking about meds .more like coping skills be around support groups cause everyone else is going to think your making stuff up.it happened to me .my son has grown up in the system he is in out of prison since he was 12 .I don't even know him I love him but there was times I hated him I even told a judge he said it's okay its not the first time he heard those words we are not suppose to feel like that but like I said know one knows, because they're master manipulators. I just saw a show on tv and the parents were in denial he hurt his mom an sister and shot a cop my son always said he was going to kill me and burn the house down with everyone I cried the whole time. Please Please get help and find time for your other kids and your self only way to stay sane .my sanity was because my son went away .it is hard to say know to kids with bipolar because no matter what u do its never enough or you don't love them.
